Assessment
We remove the wheel and inspect inside and out — sidewall damage or a puncture outside the repair zone means the tyre is scrapped, no charge for the check.

Locate & clean
Object removed, injury channel cleaned and buffed to BS AU 159 standard.

Plug-patch bond
Combination mushroom plug-patch bonded from the inside — a proper permanent repair, not an external string plug.

Rebalance
Wheel rebalanced on our workshop balancer before it goes back on.

Refit & torque
Torqued to spec, pressures set, TPMS reset if fitted.

External string plugs are a temporary get-you-home fix — not a legal repair. A proper internal plug-patch bonded across the inner liner is what the British Standard demands, and what insurers expect to see after a claim. If we can save the tyre this way you avoid an unnecessary £80–£150 replacement.
- Recheck pressure after a few days — a second injury will show up quickly
- Repaired tyres are still fully warranted for the remaining tread life
Which punctures can't be repaired?+
Anything within 25 mm of the sidewall shoulder, sidewall damage, run-flats that have been driven flat, or tyres below 1.6 mm tread. If it's not safe we tell you before we start — no charge for the check.
How long does a proper repair last?+
A BS AU 159 plug-patch is designed to last the full remaining life of the tyre and is fully speed-rated.
Do I need to take the wheel off first?+
No — we handle everything at the workshop. The wheel comes off as part of the job so we can inspect and repair from the inside.
